Ability to see History/Activity on a completed task

I was under the understanding that the history/activity of a task could be part of our audit trail. However, recently when I was trying to piece together the timeline of events, the history tab is not accessible when task is closed and the only action is to make the task "open" again. To me this somewhat defeats the purpose of an audit trail. I was advised by support that it is because we should not be able to add any activity to a closed task to which I agree but that does not explain why we can't see (as read only) the history. I believe that this is an essential feature.

Thanks for raising this — the audit trail is absolutely something we want to be reliable, so I want to make sure we're looking at the same thing.
Just to clarify: on a Completed task, the full History is still available as read-only. You can't add any new activity or comments to a closed task (which is the behaviour support was referring to), but the timeline of everything that happened — status changes, due-date changes, actual time, subtask edits and so on — should remain visible.
I've attached a screenshot of a Completed task on my end showing the full history in the Comments & History panel.
- One thing to check: that panel has a show/hide toggle (the icon highlighted top-right in my screenshot) — if it's collapsed, you'll only see comments and it can look like the history has gone.
So that I can pinpoint what you're seeing, could you let me know:
- Is the History panel definitely toggled on when you open the completed task?
- Are you opening it from the work board, or from somewhere else (e.g. a past period / report)?
- If you can, a quick screenshot of your view would help enormously.
That'll let me confirm whether it's a display/toggle issue, something specific to your access, or a genuine gap we need to fix.

Sunniva Andersen Hi, thank you for responding to this, I believe that I recorded this after a lengthy conversation with your AI support and was told that it wasn't possible to see on a closed task, after I was called back by a human I was shown this little grey H top right hand corner and was able to see the comments. So this is no longer required. I would however like to suggest that the toggle to hide or unhide history, be a little more obvious as the H is very light and grey when it is hidden, therefore indicating that it is not available rather than it being hidden, had this have been more obvious it may have saved us considerable time both us and Xbert support. Can I suggest it actually be an on|off toggle and history be a full word?
